Really great article! The Athletic is a startup doing what you are describing, but just for sports news. You pay a monthly subscription and get access to a lot of content. They are raising a lot of money from VCs and are seemingly pretty successful. I bet there will be, if there aren’t already, copycats in the news space as VCs and founders see the success of the athletic.
